Changing your diet requires energy, which most of us don't have to spare while recovering from Long COVID or ME/CFS. Sharing what worked for me, and mistakes I made
Hey Nicole, so happy to have found you, the information you have shared, well it’s giving me hope! I just wanted to ask did you do any kind of fasting at all when it came to nutrition? I’ve heard it can help reduce inflammation but wonder if on the case of chronic illness is not so helpful? Would appreciate hearing your thoughts. 😊
Hi Sophie, I'm glad it's giving you hope, thanks for taking the time to tell me.
I did not do any fasting, so don't have any good information or experience values unfortunately. I've also heard it can have health benefits, but figured it might not be helpful with chronic illness as you say. In my case, my body was struggling so much it was difficult to get the calories I needed (I lost significant weight and went from "normal weight" BMI to "underweight", as well as muscle atrophy). I figured restricting food in any way was not going to be helpful in that situation.
If you do try it and have positive results I'd be very curious!
Catching up on posts I’ve missed, and I just want to share my appreciation for not just the self-compassionate content but also your formatting. Super clear and easy to follow.
The two biggest dietary changes I’ve made that have helped were drinking more fluids and tracking/increasing my protein intake. My nutritionist helped me realize that I was lagging behind on both. I’ve had a bit more energy since making the protein change in particular. Of course, there were plenty of other changes I made that didn’t make a difference, including going gluten- and dairy-free for six months. My inflammatory markers were already back to normal, so I think that’s why this didn’t much matter for me.
Thanks Amy! Wild how much experimentation it takes, isn’t it. Glad you found what helps you, too! Protein and fluids were both really important for me, too
Thanks for the mention! I forgot about those tips, they are the best I could ever recommend.
I love the way you’ve approached this series, the wealth of insight and information you share. Really helpful to fellow warriors looking to make changes to support their future health.
Great news about the breathwork training and this program that you have created! Can’t wait to be reading more about it🩵
